Silenced

This multiple-exposure self-portrait marks the beginning of an important creative journey I am undertaking for the next year. In an effort to habitualize intentional creativity, I’ve set myself a simple but demanding task: to create one photograph a day, every day, for 365 days. Each photograph will be captured on the same camera, my LUMIX ZS200. Otherwise, there are no rules, no prompts, and no exceptions.

In this first piece, I am confronting the voice in my head that has too often paralyzed my creative practice. This voice keeps insisting that if an idea cannot be given everything, then it isn't worth giving anything at all. It privileges perfection over process. In this image, the gesture of silencing myself is not an act of withdrawal, but of defiance. It marks my decision to suspend self-critique in favor of sustained action.
